Short-Term Stay After Hospital Admission
Patients that have been admitted to a hospital for a minimum of three nights may have the option for a short-term stay in our center to receive 24-hour Nursing care and Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy up to seven-days each week. Patients may also request a short-term Respite in-patient stay for periods of a few days to several months.

In-Patient Residential Stay
Patients that require a permanent in-patient stay may be admitted from the Hospital, Assisted Living Facility or Home after receiving an admission order from their primary physician.

The cook (Dave) here has been outstanding honoring my allergies and providing excellent and unique options. And his assistant has watched over my food with care and kindness that can’t be beat.
The PT and OT staff are brilliant and creative! They helped me walk again. Really really great people, all of them.
Despite the current lack of nurses (and they are hiring more ) these are trying harder and very nice warm and friendly.
After a month the main issue here is lack of communication so that information does not get conveyed between shifts like- allergies from one cook to another: the weekend cook did not understand that the only meat I was allergic to was turkey and wishing to serve me well was trying to figure out what to serve me unable to think of anything except pasta. He did not understand I could eat anything else. Good people good intentions but no communication.

[Review Text Prior To Mar 2, 2024] => Sitting in bed soaking wet pulling help cord for an hour with no response this is illegal. I thought it was once but it became the usual to wait on the potty for an hour one more with the call button on. Really bad just being ignored no matter how kind you are. This place has become worse each day for service. They had the federal people in here to rate them but it made no difference. Then I called the outside phone line for help and waited longer but no one came. This is 10:30 on a Sunday morning now and not a busy time or shift change. It is rediculous.

[review] => I am a patient at the Sunnybrook Rehab Center. Getting out this week. I have nothing to say but great things about the staff here.
Sometimes I'll lay in my bed and wait for complete silence before falling asleep. In the mean time I hear Nurses and Nurse Aid taking care of patients as they have dealt with me. They have the sweetest spirit when dealing with us. They always remain calm. I don't want to start naming names out of fear of leaving a name out by mistake.
I met lots of other staff members here and they too were nothing but pleasant. The PT and OT staff I think I fell in love with them just by our first conversations. Simply amazing people that are here with love in what they do to help patients. Bottom line, I felt and heard much love here. Thank you Sunnybrook Rehab Center.

[review] => My mom was at Sunnybrook for about 13 days. Everyone there was excellent. Management, nursing, aids, therapists and staff were so caring and considerate. It was truly unbelievable that every person in that building went above and way beyond to take care of my mom. If I could give a rating above 5 stars, Sunnybrook would get it. I first contacted her while organizing a skilled nursing facility for my mother after her discharge from Rex hospital. Unfortunately, my mother's plans and decisions changed, and she will not be going to any rehab facility. Mara called me weekly to check on the progress of my mother. She is full of compassion and genuine concern. Mara is one of the many angels that I had the pleasure to communicate with on this very difficult and emotional journey. [review] => My father is very sick. The service provided is quite well. The foods good. And it’s the only place where the food made my dad want to eat anything other than a protein shake. The ladies and men that work here do a better job than some of those facilities in Cary. The floor layout is one floor two main wings. Nurses can jump around to rooms with ease. And the rooms are big. If you’ve got very few choices where to go. This is the spot your loved ones can be. I trust the people that work here. Very well communicating crew. The old man didn’t want to be anywhere else.

[review] => If you want your love one dead so you can get the inheritance, this is the place. Grandfather didn’t stay there for a year and got stage 4 Nicolet, the best part they said he was fine when his daughter went to see him unresponsive. After that it only took 16 days for him to pass in the hospital. Went to get his stuff the day he passed and couldn’t find anything, no one knew where his stuff were, oh and also when he was there he was wearing someone else’s clothes that was was too small and lost he’s brand new clothes that his children bought for him.
So if you want them gone soon as possible this is the place to send them too.
But obviously we didn’t want this to happen and now my grandfather is gone and I will never forgive this place for what they have done.

Special thanks to Ashley Erwin, the admin, who was very kind, and CNA’s Katelyn E and Shante, who were there almost every day and aided to my mother who can be fairly difficult…. [review] => Very friendly staff who care! CNA's do a terrific job, and the Care Team works with you to ensure your loved one is receiving appropriate treatment. DeAnna, the Nurse Med Manager, helped work through some medication errors that were made in the hospital which greatly aided my father, and I cannot thank her enough. The food at SunnyBrook is wonderful! The chef made sure to see that my father's food was perfectly prepared to suit his semi-solid diet, and every meal was delicious. Facility could use some updating but they make every effort to ensure your loved one is cozy and comfortable.

mngr.,Raymond, to the cna's, two of which were Odette,and Linda,
to the speech therapist, the physical therapist,the RN's (Jerri AND Judith Barnes come
to mind)and even the housekeeping, I saw everyone working as quickly and as well as you would find in the best of facilities. I and my family were treated with respect and dignity and as much

[review] => This will be short. The FOOD!! Is the absolute worst. Not one of the people preparing the meals being served to patients knows how to prepare anything. Each of them should be given cooking lessons. The staff members I've met, seem to care about the patients and I appreciate the care they have for the patients (my husband included), but you must do something about the kitchen staff and what is being served to the patients.

[review] => Unfortunately, my father had many of the same experiences as others who were at Sunnybrook Rehab: patients told they won't be helped to the bedside commode so they should just soil themselves; falls when transferring from the wheelchair to the bed; patients discharged with stage 2 sacral ulcer -- "surprise!" -- and no info in the discharge papers on what to do next, no Rx for supplies, or training in how to help the patient at home.

Update. Sunnybrook posted that they would like to reach out to me. I sent them my email. Never heard from them. I think this says a lot about this facility. They have no interest in improving their poor quality of care.

Administration put moms money on the account, but kept it. Her pictures, wedding ring that was stuck on her hand was stolen. I don't know how they got it off. He cell phone was taken, they won't give land lines, insist on cell phones, then they are stolen. I bought special drinks and food, as the kitchen food was so bad. The food I bought disappeared, she never recieved it. It was to be signed out as she had lost weight, and was keeping track of what she tolerated or that's what I was told. But someone else got her good.
food. Facility from admission, until the day she was ignored and withheld care, to sustain life until ems should have been called. The staff Refused to help my mom with her needs, she aspirated, i reached out to the entire building that day I requested help for her, every extension I called Refused to come to her aid.
Initially I was talking to my mother, she had aspirated, she had been pleaded for help had her call light on, I used my second cell phone called multiple staff ,administration, I was Refused and austrasized for calling, I request someone to check on mom or help her. I was told the nurse was busy. I could hear her trying to breath with a high pitched squeak, I eventually exhausted all options for help from this facility, i finally called 911, mom was squeaking with each breath, then I could no longer hear her, voice or attempts to breath. I begged ems to hurry 911 said the team was coming, at the facility still no one answered her light. Then 911said ems is in the facility, I continued to hear moms occasional effort, ems came in as the staff finally responded behind them. Mom needed to be resuscitated, chest compressions,, and intubated, I.V.s transported to the emergency room, she wanted to live, she tried hard, she was ignored, and the hospital was not much better.
I
finally was able to visit her, I found an unkempt, dirty hair,, long facial hair her nails were long, broken, unbathed, feces under her nails, bed sores, bruises, her watch band filled with dried fecal material, legs, feet toes, toenails, dirty from no baths or skin care, toenails broken, her nail which would need attention or would become ingrown, had grown into the skin soft tissue of the great toe , skin reddenswollen, oozing pale white/yellow drainage, she had pain from this and chronic back pain , and pain from being dropped at this facility on the bed rail while transferring. . she later died from the lack of response to her needs this day,, but also the attention to her needs of diet,, since her dentures were lost,, she could not chew,, she was diagnosed with difficulty swallowing, needed assist to eat. , but was not helped, no one present when she aspirated, more than one, I had complain many times to have someone assist her.
I don't know how professional staff trained to care for those in need can turn their backs, and still live with themselves.
I know I could not walk away, or not answer a call light.

[review] => This rating system is designed where you have to choose at least one star in order to write a review. But this facility does not deserve a star. If anything the authorities need to shut it down. My relative lived in four different nursing facilities after his accident. After a couple of months at Sunny Brook he never recovered. He was neglected and ignored to the point where EMS had to take him out of there. The receptionist will stop answering your call if you call more than two times. The entire staff is terrible. Nurses and CNAs, they will pretend to care until you leave. Don't take your loved one there.

[review] => I went to visit my father inlaw and I didn't believe my husband like that when he said it's alot of hood boggers that works there. For what I seen he was 100% right. Their some people on staff that cares and you can tell the one's that is just there for a check. My thing is if you work where people on oxygen You come in smelling like cigarette smoke. My father inlaw had to use the bathroom and waited for at least 30 mins before he had a chance to go. The people that was supposed to be helping him wasn't in there station My husband had to find someone on staff to do there job and they wasn't prepared they didn't have any materials they was suppose to have for him and my husband and sister inlaw had to clean him up and make sure he had clean things on and on his bed. For that matter I feel like he should be taking care of at home. The center is dirty and need to have the carpets clean, they need someone to spot clean the rooms that floor in my father inlaw room was so dirty and sticky it was ridiculous. and the staff needs to tighten up and stay off there phone.I didn't won't to give one star but I had to just to write a review. I don't know where they find these people to work there or how they got hired they need to do better.

[review] => I haven't ever heard a positive thing regarding this facility. Patient neglect,misuse of funds,theft of patients belongings, by staff and or other residents. In quiet a few recent cases,any objection of their fraudulent and neglectful behavior has resulted. In the patients being abruptly kicked out of the facility. The smell is horrendous. This is to name a few of the horrible displays by staff and management of the facility. I wouldn't leave my DOG here.

[review] => I would just like to say that my experience here at Sunnybrook has been a pleasure the staff is very warm and kind to the patients and the social worker has helped me get from the beginning to the end she has worked with the staff here helping to get things posted on the outside so that my transition will be smooth the social worker Miss Allison has stuck by my side through thick and thin even on weekends she's had to come in to try and help me out so I'm very thankful to staff your son

[review] => I don't know why I would give this place a star but just assumed I had to give it one to give a review. This is one of the worst rehabilitation center I've visited. I have or had a friend who was in this facility. She died there. When visited she had not been given hygiene care at all. I offered to help getting her washed up but the nurse who was supposed to get her aid never came back to let me know if someone would come so we could ge my friend washed up. My only consolation is that she wasn't coherent (my friend), she was in an unconscious state. So hopefully she wasn't aware of how she was being treated. To the Administration: the care given to patients is very Poor. And your facility Stinks.

[review] => My grandfather was in this facility for little over thirty days before coming home ,and I was highly disappointed and dissatisfied with the workers as well as the residents not being taken care of the the manner they should have , plenty times I came in my grandfather had been in his room a stroke patient and he would tell me he press the call button for bathroom they come 20-30 minutes later, he had aphasia and the staff was not trained on how to understand things he would want and say, so they would call me for clarification , please train them on things they should know .. the place smelled and I purchased lysol disinfectant spray so that I could clean his room..so I repeat please don't bring your love one here , katiey from therapy was AWESOME.. I loved her and so did my grandfather god rest his soul

[review] => This place is as sorry as people are saying it is. Don!'t believe the positive comments. They are actually employees who were asked to put up positive reviews. One is the DON, go figure. There are some stellar employees there and some who really do care. Management is all about the money and what insurance you have. If you do bring a loved one there, just stay in their presence so you can really see what's going on there!

[review] => The nurses assistants don't make beds on a regular basis. I was a patient there for 4-weeks and once my bed wasn't made for 4-days, I had to request from a nurse to have an assistant change my linen. At night I seldom was visited by the 11-7 nurse. At 4:00-am most of the time ice-water was left there and many times that was not given. The food many times cold as if it was taken from the refrigerator and several times I took my tray to the kitchen. There were many nurses that expressed concern and respect and there were nurses that cared less about the patients. Any one considering this facility i suggest they think twice .

[review] => Warning Horrible Facility. Do not go there! Patient found blood, urine, feces on bed, floors, and bathrooms. Patient reported terrible conditions. Family had to come clean the room. Did not have the proper equipment for patients injuries. Nurses did not give the patient proper medications on time and did not did not offer assistance in a timely manner. Call your doctor and insurance company demand a different facility.

REVIEWS
I am a patient at the Sunnybrook Rehab Center. Getting out this week. I have nothing to say but great things about the staff here.
Sometimes I'll lay in my bed and wait for complete silence before falling asleep. In the mean time I hear Nurses and Nurse Aid taking care of patients as they have dealt with me. They have the sweetest spirit when dealing with us. They always remain calm. I don't want to start naming names out of fear of leaving a name out by mistake.
I met lots of other staff members here and they too were nothing but pleasant. The PT and OT staff I think I fell in love with them just by our first conversations. Simply amazing people that are here with love in what they do to help patients. Bottom line, I felt and heard much love here. Thank you Sunnybrook Rehab Center.

My mom was at Sunnybrook for about 13 days. Everyone there was excellent. Management, nursing, aids, therapists and staff were so caring and considerate. It was truly unbelievable that every person in that building went above and way beyond to take care of my mom. If I could give a rating above 5 stars, Sunnybrook would get it.
